Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students

The University of South Australia Students’ Association fully supports the University’s efforts to bring about the reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. UniLife also recognizes the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the Indigenous peoples of Australia and acknowledges them as the original owners of this land.

If you have any queries or concerns as a Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Student you can contact the Indigenous Student Services Unit. The Unit has staff on every campus (including Whyalla) to ensure that you have support and assistance throughout your studies. Academic Counselling

You may be required to undertake Academic Counselling with your course co-ordinator or program director if your academic progress is unsatisfactory. Accommodation

Activities

Academic Dress

Academic dress for graduation ceremonies can be hired from the University. The hire fee is $45.00. You may hire academic address from the University throughout the year.

Hire and payment for academic dress for graduation can be organized via Graduations online.

For hiring outside a ceremony please fill in the Hire of Academic Dress form (pdf 17kb).

Academic integrity

The University expects students to adhere to the highest standards of academic integrity and honesty in the preparation and presentation of their academic work. Failure to do so may result in academic misconduct. There are a range of penalties that can be imposed for academic misconduct. Academic Integrity Officers

Academic Integrity Officers have been nominated in each school to investigate and report on cases of student academic misconduct at the initial inquiry level.

For undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students academic integrity matters are dealt with by Nominated Academic Integrity Officers by School.

For research degree students academic integrity matters are dealt with by the Deans of Research.

Academic misconduct

The University defines all of the following actions as academic misconduct:

  • Plagiarism
  • Breaches of examination procedures
  • Representation of data that has been falsified, copied or improperly obtained in any way
  • Using material in academic work that has been produced by or with the significant help of another person, where such assistance is not permitted in the course information booklet
  • Falsifying or misrepresenting academic records or transcripts
  • Any other actions that contravene the principles of academic integrity as stated in University Policies. For further details see Section 9, Assessment Policies & Procedures Manual, 2006:p33)

If you are requested to meet with an Academic Integrity Officer regarding allegations academic misconduct it is important that you are fully aware of what the process involves. Academic review

Academic Reviews are conducted to monitor students’ academic progress. This occurs in the middle and end of each academic year. Students whose progress is found to be unsatisfactory will be notified by letter.

Academic transcript

Students will receive one free academic transcript when they have completed the requirements of their program and it has been recorded on the system

The fee for additional academic transcripts (includes ALL courses) is $25.00 for the first one and $5.00 for each additional transcript requested at the same time. These can be purchased using the form below:

If you need a complete enrolment history in a hurry and do not have the $25.00 you can obtain a ‘Record of Study' (unofficial transcript) online via the “myStudies” page at myUniSA from 28th September, 2006. Your 'Record of Study' is an unofficial record of your complete enrolment history at the University of South Australia, including the results for each course you have studied.

Aids/Hiv

Clinic 275 offers free and confidential testing, diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (including HIV/AIDS). A health advisory service is available for more detailed information and/or counselling related to STD issues.
